About Metro:

Metro Community Health Center (MCHC) exists to serve the needs of our patients. It is a privilege to work here and know that everyone is focused primarily on caring for our patients and not on generating revenue. As a 501c(3) non-profit organization, we serve the Swissvale, Wilkinsburg and neighboring regions, to provide comprehensive health care to all individuals regardless of their ability to pay. MCHC has provided health care for over a decade, with physicians who specialize in family practice, geriatrics, women’s health, HIV and LGBTQ+ comprehensive care, and integrated behavioral health.

In early 2014, Metro Community Health Center underwent a name change, along with a relocation to enhanced facilities. Formerly known as Metro Family Practice, we wanted our name to reflect our interest in the health and well-being of the community.

Under a comprehensive family practice model, our health center incorporates a team based health care approach which enables streamlined care to each patient. Each team includes a physician and health professionals including nurses, medical assistants and administrators who work together to provide a unified approach for the patient. It empowers each team to understand the patient’s health history and current issues in order to deliver the most appropriate and comprehensive care possible.

At Metro Community Health Center, our philosophy is that good health is more than just the absence of disease. We believe well-being is the comprehensive sum of biological, behavioral, spiritual and social aspects of the individual, the family and the community. We see health as a three-legged stool: healthy nutrition, daily exercise, and psychosocial / spiritual health. MCHC strives to care for all individuals with respect, dignity and grace.
